So I know back in 2016 I said I was back. Well, turns out that mental health isn't as cut and dry as we all wish it was. See, it turns out that the eating disorder was really like the wrapper on the outside of a moldy candy bar. I thought I understood what I was getting until I opened the wrapping paper and was like "well shit, that's not a snickers bar..." "Trauma" is a something I'd once reserved for people who survived war or assault. I didn't apply it to my childhood or the fact that I grew up in a family where substance abuse and mental illness went overlooked and untreated. The process of unpacking what happened was therapeutic to me, and when I was done I had a freaking book. After years of therapy, pep talks, hallucinogen treatments with a psychiatrist and a lot of processing, I wrote my first book. I had some friends and family read it. and with their kind and optimistic feedback, I've decided to publish. I'm open to the idea of posting sample chapters or excerpts here in

A Journey

0 min read
Hi, everyone. I know I have been gone for a really long time. I've been working full time and going through some really tough times in my personal life. All my life I have struggled with body image issues and extreme lack of confidence. This coupled with a traumatic childhood was a recipe for the battles I've been fighting. This took a much darker turn this past February. My poor self esteem led me down the path of an eating disorder. I began to starve myself and exercise off the little bit that I did eat. I lost a lot of weight and had no intention of stopping until that scale read "0.0 lbs". So I was strongly encouraged/admitted to inpat

So I'm back (yet again) and back to drawing as well. Had some spare time yesterday and today (between two jobs-one of which is a work from home evening, weekends, etc, job-a husband and two dogs and multiple vacations, I've had very little time to draw). HOWEVER, I'm back at it with a giant sketch book and lots of pencils...and an afternoon to myself, I'm hoping to have a new pic (at least the lineart) posted by tonight. For those of you who enjoy "Game of Thrones", you'll enjoy the work I've been picking at. First one featuring Cersi and Jaime Lannister.

It's a long time after you wrote this comment-sorry I missed it! What was the contest?
Hey girl!
where you been?
I haven hear from you since when???

No offience asking but can I still use you in SENAX story????
Sure-no problem!

I have been so busy. So the last time I was super active on DA was the last year I was in school. After I moved back home, I did nothing but study for the RD/dietitian exam. After I passed it, I got a job and moved (literally-this all happened over a summer) to the other side of the country...let's think. After that, nearly died (literally), got engaged, got a house, got a dog, got married, went on our honeymoon, went home for my mom's funeral...

I've been busy...all of the above plus 40 hours working every week.

I've missed DA. The biggest problem I had with not posting art is because I don't have a scanner...and didn't have the right art supplies. How are you?!
